SUMMARY:Thursday Fish n' Chip Lunch Ride
DESCRIPTION:On offer for your pleasure courtesy of Steve Wolton\, with the promise of a splendid late Summers day ride through the Sussex and Kent countryside\, for this popular weekday jolly. Riding through our green and pleasant countryside to the coast to enjoy that Great British bikers favourite lunch.\nIf you would like to join the ride\, then please follow the registration guide below. \n\nRIDE DETAILS \nThursday September 12th:\n10:00am meet with a 10:15 pre-ride brief for 10:30am wheels rolling and returning to Maresfield services around 16:00. \nMeeting Point Location:  McDonalds\, A22/A26 Services Maresfield\, Uckfield TN22 5EP. \nClosest Petrol Station(s):  Adjacent services \nPre-ride coffee/tea ?  If you want a McDs breakfast or tea/coffee and to be ready for wheels rolling\, get there with enough time to enjoy it and do leave enough for your lunch. \nLunch stop:  The Waterfront Chippy\, Sovereign Harbour\, Eastbourne\, BN23 5UZ (other food options are available!) \nRide Description \nTodays ride will be approx 120 miles through the fantastic Weald of Kent & Sussex.  Heading initially in an easterly direction to Tenterden\, Appledore & Rye and then winding our way back along the South Coast and through part of the South Downs National Park to finish back at our original start point by approx 4:30pm.  We will make a brief stop after about 80 miles for a leg stretch and toilets for those who need it\, before heading to our lunch stop in Sovereign Harbour\, Eastbourne.  Here you will find an excellent fish & chip shop as well as a wide range of other eateries and all the usual sights and sounds of a busy marina. \nOur route will include plenty of “old favourites” and possibly a few new one’s\, on a mixture of A & B roads and some carefully selected single-track routes to help us stay out of the traffic – and we won’t be passing through Lewes this time! \n\nPlease bring your Membership Card with you and ensure you check the club website for any last minute amendments to this event –> Southern Riders Events \n** New and Recent members\, remember please you will need to have had your Initial Assessment Ride with an Instructor to attend this and other club riding activities \n\nREGISTRATION:\nPlease note\, there are no restrictions on how many can join the ride\, but we ask that you please register via email directly with the ride leader at steveandjackywolton@gmail.com \n\nBack-Marker System\nOne of the riders will need to Back-Mark so any volunteer for this please advise the ride leader when you register for the ride.  If you have an orange Hi-Viz please bring it with you\, or one may be provided on the day\, or dependant on the size of the group an alternative marker may be agreed.\nPlease make sure you are fully conversant with the rules of the “BACK-MARKER SYSTEM“.  Following these correctly is vital to the smooth running of the day and reduces the risk of losing someone or everyone. Details of the BM system are on our Southernriders.org  website.   If you’re unsure on the day\, ask one of the attending Ride Leader. They will be more than happy to clarify any issues you have. \nHi-Viz \nIf you wear hi-viz\, please ensure it is not Orange as this is reserved for the ‘back-marker’ during our ride-outs.  We appreciate that you may normally wear an orange hi-viz whilst riding.  However\, some find it confusing when in the middle of the group to see two or more riders with the orange hi-viz.  So\, in an effort to avoid confusion and markers leaving their post prematurely ONLY the back-marker is to wear orange hi-viz.   Thank you \n\nPlease be fully fuelled and ready to go prior to the start of the day. \nHave a safe enjoyable day.\nRide Smart – Ride Safe !
