SUMMARY:Normandy WW2 Tour - 2026
DESCRIPTION:For 2026 we are introducing a tour across the wonderful Normandy countryside and taking in the key WW2 landing beaches\, memorials and sites of interest.\nCourtesy of Simon Lucas and Jerry Palmer; they have built this historic tour across to Normandy.\nPlaces are on a first come\, first served basis. \nDetails are… \nMonday 11 May: Travel day. Meet at Caen/Ouistreham Port 15:00 (local time)\, ride to Hotel de la Poste in Mortain – approx 2 hours. Time permitting there will be an option to ride a section of fire trail. Check in\, dinner at hotel. \nTuesday 12 May: The D-Day Landing Beaches. Ride through the fantastic Norman countryside\, along the route stopping at Reyes Commonwealth Cemetery\, the British Memorial\, Aromanches les Bains for a restaurant lunch\, Longues sur Mer\, Omaha Beach\, American Cemetery and the amazing Overlord Museum. Dinner at hotel/local restaurant. \nWednesday 13 May: Uboats! A longer & thrilling ride to St Nazaire (or Loreint) Uboat base\, (packed) lunch in a very unusual place\, step in to a real submarine. In the afternoon riders can plan their own route back to the hotel for dinner. \nThursday 14th May: The Cotentin Peninsula. A morning coastal ride\, (packed) lunch at a secret German position with views across the Atlantic Ocean to Alderney & Sark. In the afternoon a visit to Crizbec Batterie & Utah Beach. Dinner at hotel/local restaurant. \nFriday 15th May: Travel day. Goodbyes and return to UK. \nBreakfast served each morning at the hotel. SUMMARY:The Wee Scottish Tour/Wizz 2026
DESCRIPTION:Our Scottish Wizz for 2026 will as usual avoid the school holiday dates to miss the crowds and enjoy the amazing quiet roads and beauty of the Highlands. \nThis is open to all the membership and will be a minimum of a seven (7) day trip;  five (5) in the Highlands with a day either side to travel up and back home. Most however take two days up and two days back home. \nPlease note that\, for the trips up and back the rider remains responsible for sourcing their own accommodation. \nOverall\, you can expect to be covering around 2500-2700 miles including travel from the Sussex/Surrey area\, planned and organised into manageable stages in true SMART tradition. \nWhilst we do ride on parts of the NC500 route\, we also discover the quieter and most spectacular roads around the Highlands as well as taking a trip to the Isle of Skye. \nThis trip is all about the riding and the amazing roads and scenery. The roads are grippy and retain most of that grip even should the worst happen and we suffer some rain ! \nStops will include the infamous John O’Groats\, various stunning stops along the north and west coasts and at least one stop on the Isle of Skye. \nAccommodation will be in Beauly\, near Inverness at The Priory Hotel\, on a dinner\, bed and breakfast basis\, so the only extras will be coffee and cake stops\, and also lunch stops once you have arrived. Oh and of course a beer in the evening! \nThe prices are :\n£142 per person per night for single occupancy in a Double or Twin Room\n£110 per person per night sharing a Double or Twin Room \nDates are May 19th – 24th\, 2026 with 12 rooms already pre-booked. So if you want to bring a partner as pillion\, or of course on their own wheels\, get in there whilst the double rooms are available. DESCRIPTION:Currently a work in progress\, details to follow. \n\n\n\nRIDE DETAILS \nThe route is currently a work in progress\, details to follow. \n  \n\n** New and Recent members – remember please you will need to have had your Initial Assessment Ride with an Instructor to attend this and any other club riding activities \n** All members please carry your membership card on this and all club activities \n\nREGISTRATION \nThere are no restrictions on how many can join the ride\, but we ask that you please register by emailing the ride leader.  See details below. \n\nWeather\nAs with all Group Ride Outs\, please note that if the overnight temperature is forecast to be 3C degrees or below at the ride start meeting place\, the ride out will be cancelled automatically.   There will not normally be a second notification if this is the case.  We only use the BBC Weather for our information.\n  \nBack-Marker System\nOne of the riders will need to Back-Mark so any volunteer for this please advise the ride leader when you register for the ride.  If you have an orange Hi-Viz please bring it with you\, or one may be provided on the day\, or dependant on the size of the group an alternative marker may be agreed. \nPlease make sure you are fully conversant with the rules of the “BACK-MARKER SYSTEM“.  Following these correctly is vital to the smooth running of the day and reduces the risk of losing someone or everyone. Details of the BM system are on our Southernriders.org  website.   If you’re unsure on the day\, ask one of the attending Ride Leader. They will be more than happy to clarify any issues you have. \nHi-Viz\nIf you wear hi-viz\, please ensure it is not Orange as this is reserved for the ‘back-marker’ during our ride-outs.  We appreciate you may normally wear an orange hi-viz whilst riding. SUMMARY:Northern Borders Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Northern Tour (Wizz)\, from 21st – 26th June 2026 inclusive\, assuming a day travelling each way.   This will give us 4 full days riding in the North of England\, comprising a day in each of the following areas: \n\nYorkshire Dale/Moors\nThe Eastern Scottish Borders and Lammermuir Hills\nDumfries and Galloway\nThe Lake District.\n\nCosts are expected to be around £80 per room per night ( x 5 nights = £400) for single occupancy B&B\, but are to be confirmed.  An extra charge for twin/double occupation of a room will apply but can be shared.  We provisionally have 11 rooms (double and twin) with the option of a few more\, if we are quick and there is sufficient interest. \nWe will require a £100 deposit to secure your place and this will be required late Jan / early Feb. \nPlease register by emailing your interest to aspalm600@gmail.com – and providing some basic information\, including: \n\nPreferred room type [Single occupancy\, Shared occupancy (twin beds)\, Shared occupancy (double bed)\, Single preferred but willing to share (twin beds)]\nBike make / model / range\n\nFull details of the tour will be provided later to those confirmed. \nIf interest is in excess of room availability then a reserve list will be created. \n*IMPORTANT* \nWhilst our Tours / Wizzes are open to all; we do have some safety criteria that you must meet.  So before you come forward and to avoid disappointment please read our Preparing for a Tour and ensure you are comfortable with the advice and that you do or will meet the criteria.  If in any doubt as to the suitability of this trip then please discuss with your Instructor or directly with me aspalm600@gmail.com . \n

SUMMARY:Isle of Man Tour/Wizz 2026
DESCRIPTION:A change for 2026 with a move to July for this popular wizz/tour to the mighty Isle of Man. \nThis is open to all the membership and will be a five (5) day trip;  three (3) on the island with a day either side to travel up and back home.  Overall\, you can expect to be covering around 1300-1500 miles\, planned and organised into manageable stages in true SMART tradition. As usual we avoid the annual TT and other race dates to miss the crowds and enjoy the amazing quiet roads and beauty of the isle. \nWe shall of course\, ride the infamous TT circuit\, at least once which is over 37 miles of superbly prepared and maintained road through every type of environment imaginable and guaranteed variety of weather conditions and temperatures all in one circuit. The Island is not just about the TT Circuit\, so we shall mostly be using the wide variety of roads the island offers\, especially those less seen and used with all the majestic scenery the island offers. \nThere are some classic bike museums on the island and so we plan to be visiting at least one of these during the trip too. \n\nAccommodation as previous years\, will be with the Arrandale hotel in Douglas\, with restaurants and bars a short walk for our evening meals.\nHotel costs have been held at 2024 prices £45 ppn for Twin Sharing and £70 pn for a Single.  Board will be B&B.  As far as rooms are concerned\, we shall endeavour to meet your room preference\, but availability may mean compromises.  The 2026 Ferry prices are currently unpublished\, but anticipate they will be circa £130 return per bike.  We shall be departing from Liverpool and the return will be to either Liverpool or Heysham. [We will update further once timetables and costs are published]. \nLunches will be at iconic motorcycling locations on the island (Creg ny Baa pub\, Victory Cafe and Peel Castle or a new cafe on the TT circuit if open)\, with evening meals at a couple of well tried restaurants. \nDates are Sunday 12th July returning on Thursday 16th with 15 places for riders. \n\nImportant:\nWhilst our Wizzes are open to all and Wizz/tour newbies are encouraged; we do have some safety criteria that you must meet. \nSo before you come forward and to avoid disappointment please read our Prepare for a Wizz and ensure you are comfortable with the advice and that you do or will meet the criteria.
