SUMMARY:Isle of Man Wizz : 2023 [fully booked]
DESCRIPTION:Our first Wizz for 2023 and we kick it off in style with a visit to the Isle of Man. \nThis is open to all the membership and will be a five (5) day trip;  three (3) on the island with a day either side to travel up and back home.  Overall\, you can expect to be covering around 1300-1500 miles\, planned and organised into manageable stages in true SMART tradition. As usual we avoid the annual TT dates to miss the crowds and enjoy the amazing quiet roads and beauty of the isle. \nWe shall of course\, ride the infamous TT circuit\, at least once which is over 37 miles of superbly prepared and maintained road through every type of environment imaginable and guaranteed variety of weather conditions and temperatures all in one circuit. The Island is not just about the TT Circuit\, so we shall be using the wide variety of roads the island offers\, especially those less seen and used with all the majestic scenery the island offers.  There are some classic bike museums on the island and so we plan to be visiting at least one of these during the trip too. \n\nAccommodation as previous years\, will be with the Arrandale hotel in Douglas\, with restaurants and bars within a short walk for our evening meals.\nHotel costs are £45 ppn for Twin Sharing and £70 ppn for a Single.  Board will be B&B.  As far as rooms are concerned\, we shall endeavour to meet your room preference\, but availability may mean compromises.  The 2023 Ferry prices are currently showing £125 return departing from Liverpool and with a return to either Liverpool or Heysham. \nDates are April 30 – May 4th\, 2023 with 15 places for riders. \n\nImportant:\nWhilst our Wizzes are open to all; we do have some safety criteria that you must meet.  So before you come forward and to avoid disappointment please read our Prepare for a Wizz and ensure you are comfortable with the advice and that you meet the criteria. If in any doubt then discuss with your Instructor or me. \n  \nIf you would like more information or wish to reserve your place and join us then please contact Andrew Jupp – atwjupp@yahoo.com clearly stating your room preference.

SUMMARY:BBQ n Chip Afternoon run
DESCRIPTION:RIDE DETAILS \nThursday 18th MAY 1:30pm meet for 1:45pm pre-ride briefing and 2pm start and Return anticipated approx 7:30pm.\nArrive earlier if you want a lunch chat\, tea or coffee etc. \nMeeting Point Location: The Butcher’s Hook Cafe\, Burwash Rd\, Heathfield TN21 8RA. \nClosest Petrol Station(s):  ESSO\, Mayfield Road (A267)\, Cross in Hand [2 miles from The Butchers’ Hook]\nPre-ride coffee/tea ?   Butchers Hook Cafe. \nMeal stop:  The Custom Cafe\, Barnhorn Road (A259)\, Bexhill-on-Sea TN39 4QR. \nRide Description:\nThe ride will be of approx 85 miles\, mostly within East Sussex and mainly on lovely country roads with a tea stop and leg stretch at the Coastguard Cafe in Fairlight.  We will aim to arrive at the Custom Cafe by about 5:30pm\, where there will be the usual daily menu plus a BBQ in the garden.  If we are lucky there may be some music.\nDepending on the amount of sunshine and music available we will stay for about an hour or so.\nThere are petrol stations en-route but I am not planning to stop\, please arrive ready fuelled with at least 120 miles of range.\nRemember if you need to stop enroute\, flag another rider in the group down to mark your position before you get fuel. \nReturn to: \nMore direct route back to the start point of approx 40 minutes for those who require it arriving\, Heathfield approx 7- 7:30pm \n\n** New and Recent members – remember please you will need to have had your Initial Assessment Ride with an Instructor to attend this and any other club riding activities \n** All members please carry your membership card on this and all club activities \n\nREGISTRATION \nThere are no restrictions on how many can join the ride\, but we ask that you please register by emailing the ride leader.  See details below. \n\nBack-Marker System\nOne of the riders will need to Back-Mark so any volunteer for this please advise the ride leader when you register for the ride.  If you have an orange Hi-Viz please bring it with you\, or one may be provided on the day\, or dependant on the size of the group an alternative marker may be agreed. \nPlease make sure you are fully conversant with the rules of the “BACK-MARKER SYSTEM“.  Following these correctly is vital to the smooth running of the day and reduces the risk of losing someone or everyone. Details of the BM system are on our Southernriders.org  website.   If you’re unsure on the day\, ask one of the attending Ride Leader. They will be more than happy to clarify any issues you have. \nHi-Viz\nIf you wear hi-viz\, please ensure it is not Orange as this is reserved for the ‘back-marker’ during our ride-outs.  We appreciate you may normally wear an orange hi-viz whilst riding. However\, some find it confusing when in the middle of the group to see two or more riders with the orange hi-viz.  So\, in an effort to avoid confusion and markers leaving their post prematurely ONLY the back-marker is to wear orange hi-viz.   Thank you \n\n
